School 4 Symmer fair

On the 15th of june the year twelves have helped out in conducting the school 4 summer fair. We walked to school 4, which is approximately 2 kilometres away from school 3. School 4 is a primary school. We started setting up our activities. The activities were conducted by small groups of 2-3 people. My partner was Mantas and our activity was called " The Mystical Bucket" and the aim of the activity was simple. There were 6 cans of soft drinks and people had to select one and then close their eyes. The bucket was filled with water and the cans were on the bottom, so the children had to put their hand into the bucket and they had two chances to get the right can, the one they have chosen and they would succeed they would get a prize. Either a lolypop or a glitter pen. By being friendly towards the kids we have managed to attrect enough on order to make a "profit" of about 100 coupons, which we used as a means of getting our lunch. We enjoyed the fair as it gave us a chance to be creative and provide a service and working with children is also quite entertaining, especially watching their reactions when they win ;)
The following cas objectives were met:
-Undertaking new challenges (organising fun activities together and working with kids)
-Planning and initiating activities (being creative in coming up with an idea and getting the required materials ready in advance in order to run the activity)
-Working collaboratively with each other (working as a team in order to provide the best quality service)
-Developing new skills ( communicative skills and creative thinking)

Istra

From the 4-8 of june year 12 has been on a field trip to Istra. The main objective was to get the group 4 coursework out of the way. Istra is a nice place with beautiful nature and a small hotel. As we arived we started working on our physics, biology, chemistry and ESS course works which were not anything new to us but after dinner we were involved in activities set by teachers which was what actually helped us develop new skills. What was most memorable was the sheep herding activity and the boat building. In sheep herding we were divided into two groups. Each group chose a shepard and his aim was to get the sheep(other members of the group) into a particular place. We were not allowed to talk. I was the shepard and it took quite a bit of time to devise whistles and claps that would allow me to clearly convey my message to the group members, but in the end I managed and when the two groups were put in one place my team won. This was quite challenging and entertaining. Another interesting activity that we have executed was boat building. We were given 20 minutes to build something that could work on calcium carbinate and citric acid and my group built something lokking like the space ship in startrek :) The good thing was that it floated and there were bubbles coming out but unfortunately the person launching it pushed it slightly and we were disqualified..On the last night we had a barbique and then we played "hide and seek" in the forest and it was awesome. We managed to conduct all of the required experiments and now only have to write them uo. Istra was an unforgetable experience.
The following cas objectives were met:
- Increasing awareness of my own strenghts and weaknesses ( in the role of a leader, organistion skills and being creative)
-Undertaking new challenges( building a chemical boat, trying to control a huge group without talking)
-Planned and iniciated activities ( planned out all of the experiment from Moscow and devised ways to tackle problems creatively on the spot)
-Worked collaboratively with others( worked as a team in execution of experiments and when doing group activities)
-Developed new skills( boat building, using scientific equipment, creative thinking, became more organized)

Drawing Cars

Recently I have been looking at my valuable car model collection and decided to draw this astonishig car. The drawing on the photo is a fourth attempt but in my opinion it is quite simmilar to the real car, which is a  two-door, two-seat sports car produced by Italian automaker Lamborghini between 2001 and 2010. This is one of my favourite cars and this is why I decided to draw it. I tries to experiment with different paints and pencils but this car looked best with an ordinary 4B pencil and shading.
The following cas objectives were met:
-Undertaking new challenges ( trying to copy a model car)
-Increased awareness of my own strenghts and weaknesses( i understood that I definately cannot use acryl paints, but I am way better with pencils)

Year 6 visit

In the end of may the year sixes from school 4 visited our schools in order to get familiar with their new place of education. The teachers looked for voulentiers to help with the arrival of the year sixes. I decided to sign up and I was assigned the role of escorting them to their classes and basically showing them around the school. Obviously this wasn't a hard job but I still enjoyed it and it gave me experience with communication with children. THe most interesting thing was that they respected me and considered me as an example of a good student. It was funny ;)
The following cas objectives were met:
-Undertaking new chalenges ( directing children)

Weather club

This term the weather club has continued, however this term the year thirteens went on study leave and the entire responsibility was burdened upon the year twelves, which meant that the groups of two people would have to take the reading more often, approximately once in 10 days. We were given a new electronic thermometer which is good news as it allowed us to take more accurate readings and therefore reduce uncertainty in our graph that we will produce in the end of the year. As long as I know this is pur most succesful term pf the entire year, as untill now nobody has missed their turn and reading were recorded every working day, so I hope that this project will be successful towards the end of year.
The following cas objectives were met:
-Planning and iniciating activities( planning our time in order to take readings at the same time as other groups in order to be more accurate on the graph)
-Working collaboratively with each other( we and the other groups are working together on reading measurement for the end of year graph)
-Shown perseverance and commitment in my actions( taking readings throughout the year)
-Engaging with issues of global importance( observing global warming with the help of the graph)

Fencing

The sport season of this year has come to an end and I decided to quit fencing. My last training was in the begininh of may after which I decided that I will have to make a choise between sport and studying and I chose the second option. Fencing was a sport I loved but IB is quite timeconsuming and my sports club decided to move to another location which did not suit me so I decided to leave. I have done this sport for the past 4-5 years and I really enjoyed it. I have travelled alot around Russia and gained fantastic experiences thanks to Fencing. Perhaps I will continue this sport in Univercity but for now all I have left is a little booklet which proves that I am KMC(candidate for master of sport).
The following cas objectives have been met:
-Shown percieverence and commitment in my actions( practiced this sport for several years and went to trainings)
-Developed new skills (during this year I have increased my level of skill much more more than in the years before and I have taken part in about 4-5 competiotions ouside of Moscow this year and ofcource I have become more athletic and developed a certain level of thinking)

Football after school

This term I have continued to play football after school, however there have been a few changes. Due to some students taking study leaves we have decided to finish the competitive league and play ordinary games, non- competition just for fun. The Dynamos(reds) have won the cup of the year, which is mainly because of their magnificent passing skills and strategic planning. The second place was taken by the Maestros(blues), where I played before being transffered into the Galacticos(greens). The Maestros had the top scorer in their team however due to their goalkeepr leaving they could not hold the first place any more and finally Galacticos(greens) have secured the third position, however in my opinion we were the most balanced out and fair team. We had some unexperienced, new players , which other teams did not have, however we managed to increase the skill level of the new players and although many changes have taken place we still played as a team and I am happy with our result. After all the most important thing is to learn from our mistakes and hope that we will do better next year. We were only about 10-20 points behind the winners and if next year the teams will not change in the middle of the year and players will not leave unexpectadly then we will definately win.
The following cas objectives have been met:
-Working collaboratively with others( playing as a team and winning)
-Shown percieverence and commitment to my actions( attended the club regularly for the whole term)

Gym

I have continued to attend the Gym which is situated on the first floor of my appartment block. After taking one lesson with a professional bodybuilder(trainer) I have devised a training programm with his help and have continued to follow it 4 times a week for the past two months approximately. I start with a core warm up and muscle stretching and then in order to lift my maximum weight I start with bench press and from my first go i manage to lift approximately 70kg in the begining, however if I execute other exercises before benchpressing then I only manage to lift about 60-65kg. After doing this exercise 3 times to my maximum I do star a series of differently positioned dumbell exercises. I do each exercise 3 times with 8 repetitions. After that I do an abs workout, a shortened workout of the Asylum program. And finally I finish with exerceses for legs, which involver lying head down and pushing a platform with weights upwards. I enjoy my bodybuilding programme and hope to be fit for the summer;)
The following cas objectives were met:
-Showing percevierence and commitment in my actions( attending the club regularly 4 times a week)
-Developing new skills( understanding how to use training machenes and growing muscles)

Learing to sow

Throughout the IB course I have noticed that I tear lots of clothes in and outside of school and instead of going to the clothes repair each time I decided to learn to sow. My mother has an lod soviet times sowing machine and I asked her weather she could teach me to use it. It was on our dacha and when we went there I had time to experiment and even sow two of my pieces of clothing. The main challenge for me was to get the machine running again and buying special new threads. The one I worked on was a pedal one and it has about six different neadles for different purposes. After I have learned to correctly insert the thread into the needle and after spoinling a fair number of socks I decided that I could try to sow my t-shirt and if that would work then I would try my school shirt. The pictures below show what I have done after about 2 hours of practice, however it is not purely me work because obviously th emachine helps not to mess up and in general this was more about learning to use the machine, however anyways this wa sgreat fun and was quite timeconsuming but now I am comfortable with the fact that I can sow myself without paying tailors and asking my mother to do it for me;)

The following cas objectives were met:
-Increasing awareness of my own strengths and weeknesses( fixing old equipment and understanding how precisely and concentratedly I can work)
-Undertaking new challenges( doing something I have never even tried before!)
-Developing new skills( skills concerning sowing and fixing machinery)

Coaching in the fitness club

For the past two-three months until the igcse and ib exams havw started a couple of others and me have been running a fitness club on the second floor of the school gym. We have divided our duties amongst three people. We had a program for abs, core muscles and weghtlifting. I concentrated on the weight lifting part, which mainly involved training the arm, shoulder and chest muscles of students. The student who were interested in this area were coached by me and the exercises I have devised were pull-up exercises, bench press and exercises with dumbells. The tactics was to do the maximum you can with three repetitions and then I gave short lectures about the diets, for example the most important aspect of weightlifting is protein in the diet, so I advised the students to eat chicken and other meat of if they wanted they could purchase gainer protein powder, which would not require them eating that much food. The club was conducted on mondays, tuesdays and sometimes wednesdays. We have observed results in some cases they were not so noticeable visually but the amount of repetitions that could be done by students has definately increased. Students liked it due to the friendly atmosphere but unfortunately due to the igcse and ib exams most of them decided to concentrate on revision and the club eventually stopped working.
The following cas objectives were met:
-Increasing awareness of my own strengths and weaknesses( in the role of a coach and in terms of understnading how to convey certain ideas to other people.)
-Undertaking new challenges ( working as a team and trying to achieve results in terms of gaining muscle of the people who attended the club.)
-Planning and iniciating activities( advertising the club and then keeping it running for several months)

-Working collaborately with each other ( dividing ares of bodybuilding amongst my fellow 'coaches')
-Showing percevierence and commitment in my activities ( giving up 2-3 lunch times a week in order to keep the club running)
-Developing new skills ( mainly communicative skills)
