Throughout
the IB course I have noticed that I tear lots of clothes in and outside of
school and instead of going to the clothes repair each time I decided to learn
to sow. My mother has an lod soviet times sowing machine and I asked her
weather she could teach me to use it. It was on our dacha and when we went
there I had time to experiment and even sow two of my pieces of clothing. The main challenge for me was to get the machine running again and buying special new threads. The one I worked on was a pedal one and it has about six different neadles for different purposes. After I have learned to correctly insert the thread into the needle and after spoinling a fair number of socks I decided that I could try to sow my t-shirt and if that would work then I would try my school shirt. The pictures below show what I have done after about 2 hours of practice, however it is not purely me work because obviously th emachine helps not to mess up and in general this was more about learning to use the machine, however anyways this wa sgreat fun and was quite timeconsuming but now I am comfortable with the fact that I can sow myself without paying tailors and asking my mother to do it for me;)
The following cas objectives were met:
-Increasing awareness of my own strengths and weeknesses( fixing old equipment and understanding how precisely and concentratedly I can work)
-Undertaking new challenges( doing something I have never even tried before!)
-Developing new skills( skills concerning sowing and fixing machinery)
